About the editors
Dawn Ades is an art historian, academic and writer, specialising in Surrealism. She is professor emeritus of art history and theory at the University of Essex, and has been a trustee of the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery and the Henry Moore Foundation. She was taught by Alan Bowness at the Courtauld Institute of Art.
Sophie Bowness, Alan Bowness’ daughter, is an art historian and trustee of the Hepworth Estate.
Toby Treves is an art historian and writer on post-war British art.
